In this day and age information is rampant. I mean that if you want to know about any subject, all you have to do is ask Google and 50 thousand ideas will pop up for you to explore. It can be overwhelming. And there are a lot of different opinions about every subject. So how do you decide what is good for you? How do you decide what will work in your (experience when there are so many ways to do something or see something? It comes from perspective. Perspective is everything. And when it comes to you, your perspective is the only one that counts. When you read something or watch a video on any subject you are the only one that knows how it feels to you. That is your perspective.
I personally love to read. And I have my favorite authors, but sometimes I like to see what someone else has to say. But if it doesn’t resonate with me, or if it doesn’t feel good, I just leave it alone. I choose to believe what I believe and I don’t let what doesn’t feel good bother me. And I don’t try to force my ideas or opinions on others. I believe in the idea of live and let live. I can’t and don’t want to think for anyone else. My life is enough to take care of. And I feel I’m doing a great job of it. I pick and choose from all the information out there and when it feels good I know it’s right for me.
I truly love my life but it wasn’t always so. I had to figure out who I am and let myself be me. It can be hard when you are trying to please someone else or live up to some impossible standards. I know parents that try to make their kids be something they don’t really want to be. Like a father that wants his son to be a football player. Maybe the son wants to be in band or be in drama class. But when he tells his dad he wants to do something else the dad belittles him, and makes him feel like he can’t make his own decisions. It happens all the time.
I actually knew a boy that was in drama class. I gave him a ride home one day and he told me that his dad was very disappointed in him, because he thought of acting as being gay or for stupid people. But I happen to know that this boy is very talented and very smart and handsome as well. He had it all and he did it well. But the dad wouldn’t even come to his plays to see how wonderful he was. But the good part is he never veered from his dream and now he is an actor. He knew what felt right to him. Yes, it was hurtful when his dad didn’t come to see what he was doing, but in the long run the dad gave in and now he sees how wonderful his son really is.
So what I’m really trying to say here is that you need to be true to you, first and foremost. You need to be who you really are if you want to live a happy life. And isn’t that, what we all want, to be happy? So when you are reading or listening to someone about how life should be, take what feels good and leave the rest. Only you can know what feels right for you. A belief is just a thought you keep thinking until it feels true. So think thoughts that really ring true and make them your new beliefs. Pay attention to how it makes you feel and you’ll know if it’s right for you. Everyone is different and that is a good thing.
Now go do what’s right for you and love your life. Give yourself permission to be happy and see how life morphs into the best life ever.
Remember there is always great love here for you.
